Out Like a Lion – March 2023

Black Rock Road – Late March 2023

Cougar in Northwest Arizona

Clifford and I are camped south of St. George, Utah, on public land. This has been a good place these last weeks. It is now the end of March and we are seeing March going out like a lion, not much “lamb” weather this month.Sunrise is always a delight regardless of the weather.

Sunday, March 26. This area looks and feels remote, but cell service is good, for which I am very grateful. Good phone conversation today with a long-time friend and one of my daughters. I can work on blogs and Clifford works on his projects that require the internet. It is a good setup for us here.

Looking Remote

Monday, March 27 looks like a nice day for the birthday dinner for David and Rick, camping neighbors with birthdays this week. We all provide our own meat and I take foil-wrapped potatoes. It is fun to get together until it gets too windy, maybe another storm brewing, and we all head home.

Stormy Weather

Although the weather has been windy and chilly most days, the filaree are blooming, adding a touch of color to the desert. I have fun playing around with  some editing options on my phone.

I’m liking tai chi and did another session today. Lots of interesting things coming my way, but not enough time for all of it. I never tire of taking photos and every day I am grateful for the beauty that surrounds me, including frost on the filaree and the creosote.

Tuesday, March 28. Last night, as I thought about the story of the Tibetan monk who was beyond flinching, I had an insight that my negative reaction to people who annoy me is an ego thing, and I’m going to let it go. Much better to move forward with better understanding and acceptance of others. This afternoon LeeAnn and I go to the laundromat, Walmart, and Cracker Barrel in St. George. It was nice to have a woman friend to talk to. Later after I get back to camp, Clifford and I play music together, which we haven’t had much time for and I did a short tai chi. It was a very good day.

Even though we have had windy and cool days, sometimes I can sit out with coffee and the journal, admiring the view of Pine Mountain and soaking up some sunshine.

We are not sure how long we will be here. We have intentions of heading to Nevada, but the place we have in mind still has too much snow.  So for now, we appreciate all that is good right where we are.
