Quiet Walk Photography
I have been an avid photographer since childhood, having been given a brownie camera to take photos of new friends at camp. My first SLR camera and a road trip from Fairbanks, Alaska to Missoula, Montana started me on the road to scenic photography, following in the footsteps of my mother, who also loves to photograph the beauty of nature.
Attending the Rocky Mountain School of Photography Summer Intensive in 1995 added to my knowledge of the art of photography and further education at the Santa Fe Community College widened the scope of my experience. My thought is this: While the photo classes were helpful and inspiring, the truth of photography for me is the passion to take in deeply the beauty of the moment where ever I happen to be. For me, that is most often nature, although I love taking photos of my kids, also.
My outdoor photography features scenic and nature photos from a diverse range of beautiful locations in western United States including White Sands National Monument, Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks, Three Rivers National Petroglyph Site, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, the redwoods, and the northern California Coast. Not overlooking familiar and local settings, close-up shots of wildflowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds highlight these backyard and roadside beauties.
I grew up and spent most of my adult years in Montana, but lived in Santa Fe for over 15 years with my husband, Clifford, a photo enthusiast himself. We have a blast finding these great places to visit and photograph, since it is an interest we have in common. After moving to Idaho in 2013, we have had a change of lifestye that allows us to travel and photograph across the country on an ongoing basis. Blogs with photos highlight our travels.
I adopted the name Quiet Walk Photography because many, if not most, of my photos are taken while walking quietly by myself.
Quiet Walk Photography photos have been published in the “New Mexico Magazine” and have been featured in several photography shows in Santa Fe, NM. Photo greeting cards and matted prints are sold at several gift shops and galleries, as well as to individuals upon request.
